The collection contains letters to Chappell from Fritz Kredel and Henri Jonquiéres. Kredel discusses his new Werkstatt, sends news of Rudolf Koch and regrets that it is currently impossible to come to America to see Chappell. Jonquiéres writes about his use of Chappell's Trajanus type-face for his book on Jacques Villon. The collection also contains a [preliminary titlepage?] for Koch's "Das Blumenbuch"; and a clipping discussing Villon.

Fritz Kredel was a renowned and versatile illustrator and artist. He found early success in Germany, culminating in a Gold medal for Book Illustration at the 1937 Paris World Exposition. His success continued in the United States, where he illustrated a book written by Eleanor Roosevelt, and later was commissioned to design a woodcut of the Presidential Seal for John F.
